Nicola Sturgeon announces no coronavirus deaths in Scotland for 12th day in row - Daily Record

No new deaths have been recorded overnight in Scotland for 12th day in a row.

It comes as the Scottish Government released the latest figures revealing the number of cases has increased by four in the last 24 hours.

The number of those testing positive for the virus is now 18,558 with the hospital death toll remaining at 2,491.

And the number of patients getting treatment for confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in hospital is 264 - with two currently in intensive care.

Yesterday we reported a cat has become the first animal to test positive for coronavirus in the UK.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon

It is understood the animal had become unwell with Covid-19 after its owners had tested positive with the virus earlier this year.

A private vet initially diagnosed the cat with a common cat respiratory infection, but further studies found the pet was also co-infected with SARS-CoV2 - the virus known to cause Covid-19 in humans.

The update comes as Scots continue to react to the U-turn on quarantine restrictions when holidaymakers return from Spain.

Budget airline Jet2 today urged travellers ready to jet away today not to show up to the airport in another holiday blow.

Bosses said they would be scrapping flights from Scotland to the Balaeric and Canary islands, alongside mainland Spain.

This followed the Scottish Government announcement on Saturday that placed the country back on the quarantine list, requiring travellers to self-isolate for 14 days upon their return.
