A section of the M4 has been closed in both directions because of a "serious" crash involving a car and a lorry.
National Highways South West said it happened at about 04:44 GMT and the road is shut at the Prince of Wales Bridge, near Almondsbury.
It added that the closure, between junction 22 of the M49 and junction 21 of the M48, is expected to remain in place through the morning.
Avon and Somerset Police has been called to the scene.

National Highways said it was assisting with traffic management and warned drivers to expect delays in the area.
It first posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the closure was in place eastbound, before follow-up messages confirmed the closure in both directions.
Diversion information is available on the National Highways website.
Police added that the Greenditch Street overbridge is also closed as a result of the crash.
