Hayley Kay, aged 17, left an address in Southampton at 2.45pm on Thursday, July 6 and has not been seen since.
However, police say she may have travelled to Dorset and may know a few people here.
She is described as five feet five inches tall, of medium build and was last seen wearing black and white Nike Air Force trainers, black shorts, a black knee support on her right knee and was carrying a black and white Nike backpack.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Wright, of Dorset Police, said: “We are really concerned for Hayley and it is critical that we find her as soon as possible.
"We believe Hayley knows a number of people who live in the Bournemouth area and, as a result of ongoing enquiries, it is possible she could be staying somewhere in the town.
"I would ask anyone who has seen her, or a girl matching the description given, to please contact us urgently as we are very concerned for her welfare.
“I would also like to make a plea to Hayley if you see this appeal – please get in touch with us and let us know where you are. We just want to make sure that you are all right."
Anyone with information or knowledge as to Hayley’s whereabouts is asked to dial 999.
