Two London hospitals were flooded while a train station and roads were left underwater after some of the worst downpours the capital has seen in decades.
Whipps Cross Hospital in east London halted operations after heavy rain and flash floods yesterday led to “operational issues”. Its emergency department stayed open but all planned surgery and outpatient appointments were cancelled.
Newham Hospital, also in east London, urged patients to find alternative treatment centres after its emergency department was flooded during the downpour.

Roads into London were blocked and buses were left stranded yesterday. Fire officials reported 300 calls in the capital while an amber warning was issued for the southeast with disruption to travel and power supplies feared from Norfolk to Devon.
