PC David Whyte has been left fighting for his life following a stabbing in Glasgow city centre today.
Police swarmed to the Park Inn hotel in the centre of Glasgow following reports of a stabbing spree on West George street this afternoon.
Five other victims have been hospitalised following the broad daylight knife rampage in Glasgow.
The suspect has been shot dead by police at the scene.
The 42-year-old officer and a 17-year-old boy are among those injured in hospital, with the other victims males aged 18, 20, 38 and 53.
Police said: "The situation is contained at this time and there is no danger to the general public."
They are not treating it as terror related.
