The Welsh Government has reviewed lockdown restrictions in Wales and is set to announce its findings.
First Minister Mark Drakeford will reveal the latest details of the Welsh Government’s approach to lockdown at a press conference at 12.30pm on Friday, May 8.
It follows a cabinet meeting tonight and reports yesterday suggesting what Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s possible easing of lockdown restrictions might mean for England.
A Welsh Government spokesperson said tonight: “The Welsh Cabinet reconvened this evening to discuss the lockdown restrictions and review the regulations. The First Minister will hold a press conference at 12.30pm tomorrow on what this means for Wales.”
By law, the lockdown in the UK and each of the home nations is reviewed every three weeks, with the latest review date being today.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will make a statement on lockdown on Sunday night and will reportedly announce a five phase, six month plan to slowly bring England out of lockdown on Sunday, May 10.
It has been reported that in the first phase people may be allowed to exercise more than once a day and that some businesses such as garden centres will be allowed to reopen with social distancing measures in place.

But, although the four nations of the UK have so far been generally in step on lockdown measures, the final say in Wales lies with the Welsh Government.
Today Boris Johnson told leaders of the devolved nations that he was committed to a UK-wide approach to tackling coronavirus “even if different parts of the UK begin to move at slightly different speeds”, Downing Street said.
Boris Johnson spoke to the first ministers of Scotland and Wales, Nicola Sturgeon and Mr Drakeford, and Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill.

A Downing Street spokesman said: “During the call, the Prime Minister emphasised that this is a critical moment in the fight against coronavirus and that the Government will not throw away the efforts and sacrifices of the British people.
“He was clear that we will not risk a second peak that could overwhelm the NHS and we will act with maximum caution in order to save lives.
“He reiterated his commitment to continuing our UK-wide approach to tackling coronavirus, even if different parts of the UK begin to move at slightly different speeds. Those decisions will be made based on the science for each nation.
“They all agreed that continued engagement between our administrations is vital and to remain in close contact in the days and weeks ahead.”
There have been accusations that the No. 10 press briefings held daily at 5pm in London have not made it clear whether new measures apply in both England and Wales, or just England.
During the daily briefing on Tuesday, May 5, our Acting Political Editor Will Hayward asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab whether he would pledge to ensure that language at press conferences was clearer in future.
Today’s announcements come as a further eighteen people were reported to have died with coronavirus in Wales on Thursday, bringing the total number of deaths in Wales to 1,062.
There are 677 hospital patients with confirmed coronavirus in Wales, and a further 343 suspected cases that haven’t been confirmed with a test.
Around 75 patients who had Covid-19 are being discharged from Welsh hospitals every day and all health boards in Wales are at green or level one status.
