A man has been seriously injured after an early morning dog attack in Aberavon. Police were called to Blair Way in Aberavon at around 7am on Monday (June 17).
South Wales Police say that a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. A spokesman added: "The dog has been sedated and removed from the scene by police dog units."
Investigations are continuing after armed police were sent to the scene. The area has not been cleared and roads re-opened. Police said the dog was a "pitbull/staff cross".
There was a high police presence in the area, including armed police, just around 7am and the public were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.
The air ambulance landed at the scene to provide support and the Welsh Ambulance Trust has confirmed that one person was taken to hospital. Their condition is not known at the point.
