Britons have flocked to beaches and parks to bask in the warm bank holiday weather after lockdown restrictions were eased earlier this month.
People are making the most of the new coronavirus lockdown rules, which allows sunbathing outdoors and unlimited exercise, including playing tennis or golf with members of your household or one other person from another household.
Police say they were called to reports of a "large group gathering" at Ruislip Lido in west London, and urged the public to "use common sense".
The Met Office said some mist and low cloud in the West early on would give way to fine, dry weather in most parts of the country and long sunny periods.
London is set to be the hottest, with temperatures expected to reach 24C (75.2F).
Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to soar to 21C (69.8F) in Newcastle, 20C (68F) in Edinburgh and Belfast and 22C (71.6F) in Southampton.
The South West will be slightly cooler, with 17C (62.6F) forecast for Land's End in Cornwall.
Sky News's weather presenter Nazaneen Ghaffar said: "After a rather cool and windy start to the weekend with showers - Bank Holiday Monday is set fair and warm again thanks to high pressure.
"It'll be a dry day so no welcome rain for gardeners. In fact we could end up seeing the driest May on record."
Sunshine will be fairly widespread across the UK, and in turn UV levels will be high or very high for many, as well as moderate grass pollen levels.
Ms Ghaffar said high pressure dominating the weather this week means it will be fine and dry with "plenty of warmth and sunshine" for most places.
She said: "In fact, temperatures are set to rise, and for some across the South and South West of the UK it could be a rather hot day by Friday.
"We may even beat the current highest temperature of the year so far set only a few days ago at 28.2C (82.76F) in Santon Downham, Suffolk on 20 May."
Little rain is forecast for the rest of the bank holiday, but a band of cloud descending from the north-west is expected to bring some showers.
And there is the exception for western parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, which are expected to become gradually cloudier and windier through today with spells of rain later on.
