  • SECOND BABY FOLLOWS COUPLE TYING KNOT IN MAY

In May this year the couple wed looking besotted in the garden of No10 – with a larger celebration with friends and family to take place next summer.

Adorned in a flower crown, the bride looked stunning as she stepped out wearing a flowing white dress.

Instead of a veil, Carrie’s floral headpiece matched the bud placed in the Prime Minister’s buttonhole.

And Boris looked smart in a dapper suit and accompanying blue tie – while he looked adoringly into his wife’s eyes.

Posting on her personal Instagram, Carrie wrote: “Thank you for the kind messages. Very, very happy” along with a picture of her and Boris looking besotted on the big day.

  • BORIS & CARRIE MADE HISTORY AS FIRST UNMARRIED COUPLE TO LIVE TOGETHER AT DOWNING STREET

Mr Johnson and his then girlfriend also made history as the first unmarried couple to officially live together in Downing Street when they moved into the flat in Number 11 in 2019.

Formerly known by her maiden name of Symonds, the PR expert first found herself making headlines when she was romantically linked to Mr Johnson in early 2019.

But her association with Mr Johnson dates back to when she worked on his successful re-election bid at City Hall in 2012.

After her husband’s arrival in Downing Street, she was involved in a power struggle with the former de facto chief of staff in No 10, Dominic Cummings, which led to his ousting in the autumn.

Mr Cummings has accused Ms Symonds of looking to interfere in the running of the Government and recommending to her husband who to hire and fire, allegations that Downing Street deny.

  • PM HAD BEEN DUE TO WORK FROM CHEQUERS THIS WEEKEND

Downing Street said the Prime Minister had been due to work this weekend from his official country residence Chequers in Buckinghamshire.

It is not known if the couple are there together.

  • PM AND WIFE EXPECTING SECOND CHILD AFTER ‘HEARTBREAKING’ MISCARRIAGE

The Prime Minister and his wife are expecting a second child after Carrie Johnson revealed the heartbreak of a miscarriage at the start of the year.

In a statement on social media, Ms Johnson said the brother or sister to their first child Wilfred was due to arrive “this Christmas”.

The 33-year-old environmental campaigner added: “At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken.

“I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves.”

  • CONTINUED…

After Mr Johnson was elected Prime Minister in 2019, the couple moved in to Downing Street together, making them the first unmarried couple to move into the historic home.

Seven months later, in February 2020, they announced they were engaged and expecting their first child.

Just over three weeks later, Mr Johnson announced a nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak in the UK and confirmed he had tested positive for the disease on March 27.

It was confirmed Mrs Johnson also self-isolated at the time but it is not known if she tested positive as well. The PM was admitted to hospital on April 5 and was moved to intensive care a day later.

He was discharged on April 12 and the couple’s son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, was born on April 29.

  • BABY JOY FOR PRIME MINISTER AND WIFE AFTER TUMULTUOUS TIMES

Carrie Johnson has announced she is pregnant again 15 months after giving birth to her first child.

The wife of Boris Johnson published a post on Instagram stating she was expecting their second baby after suffering a miscarriage earlier this year.

Mrs Johnson, who was appointed head of communications for animal conservation group the Aspinall Foundation earlier this year, has had a tumultuous few years since the couple confirmed their romance.

Her association with Mr Johnson dates back several years having worked on his successful bid to be re-elected Mayor of London in 2012.

But the couple did not start dating until 2018 after he announced he had separated from his second wife, Marina Wheeler, who is the mother of four of his children.

  • WHO ARE BORIS JOHNSON’S SIX CHILDREN? FROM WILFRED LAWRIE NICHOLAS JOHNSON TO LARA LETTICE

BORIS Johnson and his wife Carrie Symonds have announced they will be adding another resident to Number 10, after revealing Carrie is pregnant again.

Boris is believed to have six children, his latest child – Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas – was born on April 29, 2020, with the youngster being his first with Carrie, and the Prime Minister’s third son – with his seventh, and their second, now on the way.

  • EXPLAINED: WHEN DID CARRIE AND BORIS BECOME AN ITEM?

The pair’s romance was confirmed beyond doubt when she appeared in public with him for the first time to support his leadership bid in June 2019.

Sources say that on Valentine’s Day 2018, Symonds was heard boasting to friends about spending the night with Boris in the Oxfordshire countryside, while BoJo is also reported to have wooed Symonds at the Rosewood Hotel in Holborn.

BoJo, 55, vowed to “protect” Carrie and apologised for dragging her into the media storm, according to the Mirror.

Carrie moved in with Boris Johnson at Downing Street when he became Prime Minister.

They were the first unmarried couple to live at the Prime Minister’s residence.

  • BORIS & CARRIE LIVE ABOVE NO.11 DOWNING STREET

The couple have taken the space above No11 Downing Street instead of the traditional residence at No10. A spokeswoman for the Prime Minister said at the time:”The PM is officially moving in today [July 29, 2019] and, yes, his partner will be living there.”

And on September 2, 2019, Boris and Carrie moved in another flatmate – Dilyn, a rescued Jack Russell puppy.

Ahead of Symonds move into No 10 she approached the wife of the former Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron for advice and tips.

A friend of the former PR guru told the Mail: “Sam Cam has been giving Carrie some advice on living in No10. They’re friends; she wants to help out.”

Carrie won’t have any publicly funded staff working for her. The couple had previously been living in Carrie’s flat in Camberwell, South London.

  • EXPLAINED: WHO IS CARRIE SYMONDS?

Carrie Symonds is a 33-year-old PR guru who wed Boris Johnson on May 29, 2021.

The communications and PR guru quit working for Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) in 2018.

Her parents are Matthew Symonds, one of the founders of The Independent, and Josephine Mcaffee who was one of the paper’s lawyers.

Symonds grew up in East Sheen, south west London, and attended the prestigious Godolphin and Latymer School in Hammersmith.

  • CARRIE ‘INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL FOR CARE SHE RECEIVED DURING BIRTH OF WILFRED’

Carrie gave birth to Wilfred just 16 days after Boris fought for his life in intensive care with coronavirus in the midst of the first lockdown last year.

Wilfred was pictured again in July while getting a loving cuddle from his mum while taking part in a Zoom call with staff at University College London Hospitals.

She told midwives how “incredibly grateful” she was for the “most amazing care” she got.

  • WHEN WAS COUPLE’S FIRST SON WILFRED BORN?

The pair welcomed their firstborn, little Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, into the world on April 29 2020 – and he was named after doctors who saved the PM’s life.

The proud parents showed off their son on May 2 – with his middle name Nicholas in tribute to the medics who treated Boris as he fought coronavirus.

Carrie gave birth to Wilfred just 16 days after Boris fought for his life in intensive care with coronavirus in the midst of the first lockdown last year.

  • CARRIE REVEALS SHE SUFFERED MISCARRIAGE EARLIER THIS YEAR

She revealed the exciting news on Instagram, snapping a picture of a blue baby’s pram along with a heartfelt caption. The PM’s wife said that the pair are “hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas.”

Carrie also bravely revealed that she suffered a miscarriage earlier this year, which left her “heartbroken.”

But her pregnancy with her second child has now made her feel “incredibly blessed.”

She wrote: “Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas. At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken.

“I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves.”

  • HOW MANY KIDS HAVE THE COUPLE GOT TOGETHER?

The Prime Minister and his wife have a son Wilfred who turned one at the end of April.

The little boy named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson was named after doctors who saved the PM's life while he was battling coronavirus.

The youngster stole the show at a beach BBQ for G7 world leaders at the event in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.

The PM's tousle-haired son who shares his father's thick locks was dressed for the occasion in blue shorts and a white shirt.

Boris is believed to have six children with the seventh now on the way.

  • WILL BORIS JOHNSON TAKE PATERNITY LEAVE?

It is currently unknown whether the PM will take paternity leave to spend time with his family.

Before the birth of his youngest son, Wilfred, Mr Johnson had said he wanted to take a fortnight off when his baby was expected to be born in June.

But  Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas was born on April, 29, 2020,  just 16 days after Boris fought for his life in intensive care with coronavirus - and after Carrie's own fight with the deadly bug.

The PM had to delay his leave to lead the country in the fight against coronavirus.

According to the Government rules, Mr Johnson must take his two-week paternity leave within 56 days of the child’s birth.

Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well.

''I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss so I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too,'' she added.

Praise for Carrie Johnson as she reveals heartache of miscarriage - Daily Mail

Praise for Carrie Johnson as she reveals heartache of miscarriage: Announcing the happy news she is expecting a 'rainbow baby', Boris's wife bravely opens up on earlier loss

  • Carrie said she decided to be open because she found it a 'real comfort' this year
  • She said: 'I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too'
  • Prime Minister's wife and he had their first child, Wilfred, in April last year

Carrie Johnson won widespread praise yesterday for revealing a previous miscarriage heartbreak in her announcement that she is expecting another baby.

The Prime Minister's wife said she decided to be open about the tragedy she suffered earlier this year because she 'found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss'.

Announcing the news in a post on Instagram at the weekend, she added: 'I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too.'

The 33-year-old environmental campaigner said she and husband Boris were 'hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas'.

A rainbow baby is the term given to a child born to a family that previously lost another to miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.

Mrs Johnson illustrated her post with a picture of a Christmas tree decoration in the shape of a blue pram. She and Mr Johnson, 57, had their first child, Wilfred, in April last year. The new arrival will be the Prime Minister's seventh child.

Mrs Johnson's honesty has led to praise that she is helping to break the miscarriage taboo by sharing the experience with others.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer put politics aside to send congratulations to the couple and said he was 'very sorry' to hear about the earlier miscarriage. 'I'm sure that Carrie speaking out will be of comfort to others and make them feel less alone,' the Opposition leader added.

Ruth Bender Atik, national director of the Miscarriage Association, said: 'Not everyone wants to talk about their experience of miscarriage, they may feel it's private to them or they're just not comfortable talking about it.

'They might worry that people will say the wrong things, but also it's important to talk about pregnancy after loss because it can be a very anxious time.

'I think a lot of people say they lose the kind of innocence and optimism that they had the first time around because they're always concerned that something might go wrong this time – and for most people it doesn't.'

Zoe Clark-Coates, chief executive of the Mariposa Trust, a baby loss and bereavement charity, told BBC News: 'We see a massive influx of people asking for support if anybody of note or even a TV show covers the story of baby loss. It just means to a lot of people that it's OK to talk about this subject and, sadly, for generations people have been told to not talk about loss or miscarriages.

'When people of note, people in the public eye, talk about their own personal losses I think it gives a lot of people the confidence to start speaking about it and sharing their own personal stories.'

A series of high-profile public figures have revealed their trauma over miscarriages recently.

In November, the Duchess of Sussex wrote in The New York Times about losing a baby following the birth of son Archie. 'Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,' she wrote. The Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall has spoken about her two miscarriages after the birth of daughter Mia. She and husband Mike went on to have two more children.

She and Mr Johnson, 57, had their first child, Wilfred, in April last year. The new arrival will be the Prime Minister's seventh child

And Michelle Obama wrote in her bestselling book Becoming about suffering a miscarriage and undergoing IVF treatment before having two daughters with the future US President Barack Obama.

Meanwhile, model Chrissy Teigen and singer husband John Legend last year shared photos of them saying goodbye to their little boy who was delivered at 20 weeks.

But she had to defend herself against critics of the pictures being taken and published, saying: 'I lived it, I chose to do it, and more than anything, these photos aren't for anyone but the people who have lived this or are curious enough to wonder what something like this is like. These photos are only for the people who need them.'

JENNIE AGG: She's breaking a taboo - but there's a long way to go

When the midwife first placed my son on my chest after I'd given birth, I kept saying the same thing over and over: 'It's OK, it's OK…' It was the first time in nine months that I could say those words and really believe them.

Because for the whole of my pregnancy – after four miscarriages and four long years of trying for a family – I never once felt certain that I would get to bring a baby home. And now, he was here. He was safe. He was ours.

Edward, who has just turned one, is our 'rainbow baby' – a child born after previous pregnancy loss (whether that's a miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy, a stillbirth, neonatal death or a termination for medical reasons).

A rainbow baby, just like the one Carrie Johnson announced she and the Prime Minister are expecting around Christmas after a miscarriage at the beginning of the year that left her 'heartbroken'.

The label is supposed to signify brightness after storm clouds. Joy and hope breaking through once more after the interminable grey grief that can follow a miscarriage.

Despite being incredibly common – affecting an estimated one in four women and their partners – it can still be a lonely experience. A disappointment you feel in every fibre and cell.

But as much as a rainbow baby story can give much-needed hope to others, as I know from my own experience, it's not necessarily the straightforward happy ending that the name implies. Pregnancy is never quite the same after one that doesn't make it.

As Carrie herself said in her announcement on Instagram, she has felt like 'a bag of nerves' up until this point. This kind of anxiety can be very hard for other people to understand.

And innocent questions such as 'Are you excited?' and 'Is it your first?' have complex and emotional answers. Who, after all, would find it easy to tell a well-meaning stranger that yes, you are excited – but you are also deeply afraid that this baby might die, too?

Even once your rainbow arrives, you do not just drive off into the sunset with your pot of gold safely in their car seat. As much as there is no doubt in your mind that this baby was always the one you were meant to have, they still do not – cannot – replace the one (or ones) you lost. There will always be a shadow of that grief. The child who should have been a certain age but isn't. (Had I not lost my first pregnancy, our eldest child might have been starting school in September. Something I try not to think about for too long as it is still painful and probably always will be.)

Indeed, research published in the British Journal of Psychiatry found that anxiety and depression triggered by a miscarriage can persist even after the subsequent arrival of a healthy baby.

Previous loss can spill over into your parenting style, making you hyper vigilant to the point of paranoia. A year on and I still cannot go to bed without listening outside my son's door for the comforting, rhythmic sound of his breathing.

Since I had my first miscarriage in 2017, we are talking about pregnancy loss more and more openly.

Carrie joins a long line of high-profile women who have shared their own experience in recent years from the Duchess of Sussex and Michelle Obama to Jools Oliver. Even MPs such as Stella Creasy and Olivia Blake have spoken out in the hope of changing the narrative and breaking down this taboo.

However, there is still some way to go. Not least that many women still feel they have to wait until they have happy news to share before they can also speak about the sadness that came before.

But what about those who never have another baby? A rainbow is undoubtedly a beautiful thing. But we should remember that it is also a complicated, somewhat contradictory phenomenon – yes, there's sunshine but the rain is still there, too. The same is true of rainbow babies.

COVID-19: UK records 24,470 new coronavirus cases and 65 more deaths - Sky News

The UK has reported 24,470 new COVID-19 cases and 65 more deaths in the latest 24-hour period.

Some 26,144 coronavirus infections and 71 fatalities were announced yesterday, while 29,173 cases and 20 deaths were reported this time last week.

Live COVID updates from the UK and around the world

Meanwhile, 38,858 people received their first dose of a COVID vaccine yesterday, taking the overall total to 46,851,145 or more than 88% of adults.

And 212,159 had their second jab, meaning 38,345,841 - or 72% of adults - are now fully inoculated.

In total, more than 85 million vaccine doses have been given in the UK.

The latest data from Public Health England and Cambridge University shows that around 60,000 deaths, 22 million infections and 52,600 hospitalisations have been prevented by vaccines up to 23 July.

More on Covid-19

Health Secretary Sajid Javid said: "In under eight months, health services across the UK have delivered more than 85 million doses - this is a phenomenal achievement. It has shown Britain at its best."

It comes as it was revealed that discounted meals and cheaper cab rides will be offered to young people who get a COVID-19 jab, as part of a government-led attempt to boost the uptake of vaccines.

Uber, Bolt, Deliveroo and Pizza Pilgrims are among the brands that will offer incentives to encourage young people to get vaccinated.

Almost three million under-30s are yet to receive a first vaccine dose.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson is facing a renewed backlash within his own party over the "threat" of domestic vaccine passports, with demands for MPs to be recalled from their holidays to debate the proposal.

Andrew Bridgen, one of 43 Conservative MPs to sign a declaration opposing vaccine passports, said Parliament should be recalled from its summer recess if ministers are "serious" about asking people to show proof of their vaccine status to gain entry to domestic venues and events.

Explainer: Are COVID cases really rising?

The call means cross-party backing is emerging for the Commons to return before September.

Last week, the Liberal Democrats said a change rolled out to the NHS app, allowing users to prove they had been double-jabbed to access domestic settings - as well as for international travel - warranted a recall.

The prime minister has announced that he intends to change the rules in September so that only those who are fully vaccinated can attend nightclubs, in a move designed to increase the take-up of vaccination among young people.

The nightclub stipulations would be stricter than the coronavirus status certificates used at some mass events in recent months, with clubbers not allowed to use proof of a negative COVID-19 test or evidence of having had the virus to gain entry.

Pizza and taxi rides used to lure UK youth into getting Covid-19 vaccination - CNN

The United Kingdom is using take-out food discounts and free taxi rides as incentives for young people to get their Covid-19 vaccines, the country's Department of Health said in a statement Sunday.
So far, companies teaming up with the UK government include Uber, Bolt, Deliveroo and Pizza Pilgrims. Other incentives could include "vouchers or discount codes for people attending pop-up vaccine sites and booking through the NHS (National Health Service), social media competitions and promotional offers for restaurants," the department added.
Some of the incentives from companies such as Uber and Bolt have been used in the past. But the measures are resurfacing due to signs of youth vaccination uptake still catching up to older generations.
People over the age of 80 were among the first in the country to receive their first shot, in December 2020. Since then, vaccination centers have gradually been working their way down to younger demographics.
People under 30 were granted access to their first vaccine dose in June 2021. Around 67% of 18 to 29-year-olds in England have since had a first vaccination, according to the government statement.
A total of 84.7 million vaccine doses have been administered in the UK, with 46.7 million people (88.4%) receiving a first dose and 37.9 million (71.8%) receiving both doses.

In England, home of one of the world's highest vaccination rates, Prime Minister Boris Johnson loosened nearly all Covid-19 restrictions on July 19, while at the same time announcing that full vaccination would be a condition of entry to nightclubs by the end of September, "when all over 18s will have had the chance to be double jabbed."
"Though we can see the enthusiasm of millions of young people to get their jabs, we need even more young adults to receive a protection that is of immense benefit to your family and friends -- and to yourselves. And so I would remind everybody that some of life's most important pleasures and opportunities are likely to be increasingly dependent on vaccination," Johnson warned at the time.
The government has also launched several pop-up vaccination centers across the country, to encourage walk-ins. It said over 600,000 people were vaccinated last weekend at such clinics, including London's Tate Modern Gallery and the Primark clothing store in Bristol.
